Internal Medicine is the specialty of adult medicine and Internists are specially trained “doctors for adults”. Richard H Blum MD, and Sandhya P Desai MD are board certified internists, practicing together in the Same Day Surgery Building across from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital at 545 North River Street in Wilkes-Barre.
Our Internal Medicine practice focuses on preventive medicine, accurate diagnosis and treatment of adults. Initial visits are generally available within a week, and urgent visits are available within one day.
The patient experience in the office is enhanced by the compassionate and experienced staff. Heather and Stacey provide expertise in scheduling, referrals, insurance issues and office procedures. Most insurances are accepted in the office.

Prescriptions are refilled instantly and electronically. Access to lab results, X-ray reports, etc. is always at hand. Patients can access their own medical record securely through our Web feature.
Advanced lipid testing is available through our office. Dr. Blum is board certified by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology as a clinical lipidologist, and is a Fellow of the National Lipid Association. This relatively new specialty provides advanced care of cholesterol and lipid disorders designed to prevent heart disease and meet lipid goals for patients at increased risk for cardiovascular diseases.
